Trafalgar Square is playing host to a modern day masterpiece that has captured the attention of tourists and locals alike. The creation in question is ‘Ghost Forest’, a group of enormous tree stumps collected from the jungles of Ghana.
A brainchild of artist Angela Palmer, the project aims to highlight the threats posed by climate change and deforestation. Ghana, for instance, has lost 90 per cent of its primary rainforests in the last 50 years.
The imposing structure has drawn vivid reactions from visitors. Almost everyone appreciated the brilliance of the concept while many were moved by the poignant image.
Ghost Forest will be on display at Trafalgar Square until 22 November 2009. The installation then heads to Copenhagen, to coincide with the UN Climate Change conference slated to be held from December 7–18.
For a hot hotel in the heart of London, Tudor Court Hotel is the perfect place.
